New Member to this forum so please forgive if I have violated any of the operating protocols. To me, it appears the WDTV Live media device is having problems managing the 3TB hard drive, but, when we use this 3TB drive with our computers, it runs flawlessly.Īny suggestions as to the cause and (more impotantly) a cure. We’ve switched HDMI ports (there are 4 of them on the TV) and HDMI cable…neither had any effect. Occasionally the WDTV Live media device becomes utterly unresponsive to the remote controller…it’s like it has seized/frozen and won’t even turn off. Once restarted (by itself or by rebooting) the movie show may run for 2 minutes or 20, but the problem invariable re-occurs. Sometimes the broadcast recovers without intervention…often the WDTV Live device needs to be rebooted (unplugged and plugged in again). We have been using it to play back movies and old TV programs, linking to the Hardrive with a USB2.0 cable and to the TV (Phillips flatscreen) with an HDMI cable.įrequently, in mid show/movie the screen will go black or a “NO SIGNAL” sign will appear. We upgraded to a new WDTV Live media player in May (which we were assured would have no problem handling the big hard drive). Last year we bought a 3 TB (MyBook) Hard drive, but found the old WDTV device could not “read” such a big drive. For several years we have used a small hard drive (300 GB) and an old WDTV device to carry movies down to Mexico and play them on the antiquated big tube TV our landlady has in the suite we rent.
